I never knew it was you

Dear Future Husband,

I'm running out of time to write these letters to you. Because well, I found you.
All the waiting, wishing, praying... it's all finally coming together.

In a mere 31 days, you will be husband, and not just future husband.

I am so excited!

I have prayed for you. and about you. a lot.
I have tried to work hard and be my best self for you. for us.
Just know that I won't stop that.
I'm not perfect, but I'm working.
It's a little bit strange that it's all finally real.

But I think I'm ready.

I never thought it would be you. (We all know that that came as a bit of a surprise). But when I think about it, I always knew that that was how it was going to work. I have had conversations with my Father in Heaven, and He told me that I would marry my best friend. He told me to be patient, and He told me that it would be someone I didn't expect... and boy did he have that right. I definitely didn't see you coming into my life the way you did. But I am so, so grateful that you did.

I'm glad that you already know my family, and that I already love yours. I'm so grateful that we have worked so hard together, to make a long-distance relationship work. I love that we read the scriptures, and pray, and laugh and everything. You are always able to give me the love and dedication that I need, even when I know that life gets difficult.

I'm excited to see the adventures we're going to go on. I'm excited to see you be a dad. I'm excited to be poor college students, and to do hard things together.

Thank you for being you. I love you.

Love,
Your (thrilled) future wife

just mean it

Dear Future Husband,

don't win me with words.

If you really think I'm beautiful, that's nice. I do like to hear that, but only tell me if you mean it. only tell me you love me... if you are sincere.

I don't want the empty space that comes after those words, when there is no action to back it up. I don't want the waiting, when I get my hopes up because you said such flattering words, and didn't mean them. Not if I know you are saying those same words to so many other girls at the same time. It's a little disenchanting to be honest.

When I feel beautiful, it will be because I know I am. When I feel confidant, I worked to get there.

I am done with empty promises. I am done with words. I am done with flattery and compliments.

The way it happens in the movies, you can get away with anything if only you have the right words to say. If you can smooth talk her, and make her swoon a little, sneak in an unwarranted kiss... you've got it made. That's all it takes.

But this future wife of yours is going to be a little harder to get than that, because she's learned.

When I was growing up, my dad taught me to show him what I meant, by backing it up with action. If I loved him, and I meant it, I would do as he asked.
If you love me, that's all I ask. Show me. Your actions, I promise, will speak louder than your words. They will last longer, and will mean so much more to me.

And by the way, that doesn't mean flowers or chocolate. Though I will graciously accept the gifts and be grateful for them (dark chocolate and daisies are my favorite in case you wanted to know), but make sure that you mean them. Make sure that they are not a facade. Because I'm done with fake. I'm done with superficial, stereotypical, and shallow. I'm done with the smooth talk, and the show. The act won't be enough.
But that is how I know you will be worth it in the end.

Thank you for listening to my rants, especially when they are a little ridiculous.
I love you.

Love,
Your future wife, (that is sorry she got a little irritated today)

i think about you sometimes and smile

My Dearest Future Husband,

I've been thinking about you again lately. I hope that you are doing alright.
I hope that you are safe, and happy.
And if things are hard, i'm rooting for you to come out on top!

I've been dong a lot of learning in the last little while. I keep reminding myself that all the hard is going to be so worth it one day, when you are just 'husband', and not 'future husband'. I hope you remember that too. One day I will be 'wife' and not just 'future wife', and i will love you, and you will love me. and we will look back at this time in our lives, and wonder how we ever did it. and be glad that we went through what we did, to get us to where we are, but not wish to do it again.
that will be happy.

so anyways, i just wanted you to know that you inspire me. your hard work that i know you are doing. and your perseverance to choose the right, and to make sure that we find each other one day. even though i don't know who you are yet, you keep me going and make me want to be a better person.
so thank you.

love,
your future wife

ps- i pray for you

i'll work hard

Dear future husband,

I'm your typical girl.
Yes, i have a list of things i want in a guy:

I like a guy that is creative. spontaneous.
tall. funny. confident. honest.
athletic. charming. thoughtful. attractive.
hardworking. intelligent. talented.

but really,

I want to marry a guy like this.

Someone that cares more about others than themselves.

Or someone that follows a lifestyle taught by this man.

Enjoys their family's company, and treats his mom and sisters right.

Who will be good with kids.

I want to marry someone like my dad.

Someone that doesn't mind becoming a human jungle gym once in a while for these loves of my life.

And in turn, I am working on being exactly that.

creative. spontaneous.
tall. funny. confident. honest.
athletic. charming. thoughtful. attractive.
hardworking. intelligent. talented.

but mostly-
someone that cares more about others... even those you don't think about at first.
I will love my own family.
work towards being a fantastic mom, by emulating my own.
If i expect a gentleman, i will be a lady.

i will try my hardest to always be the person i want to marry. to give my full 100%.

i will love you with all of my being. for eternity. there may be times that we don't agree, but that doesn't mean i won't love you.

right now i am preparing to serve a mission.
so that means that you'll have to wait at least another 18 months.
but i will come back from this experience so much a better person.
in fact, i'm a little selfish in my desires to serve. more than anything i'm so excited to serve the Lord by bringing his children to Him.
but a little tiny piece of me knows that i need this experience for me.
so that i can learn to do hard things. to let myself serve completely.
and then when i'm done, i'll finally be ready to get married.

let's just hope i come home in one piece!

love, me

ps- i'm still praying for you.

I moustache you a question

Dear future husband,

Unless you are one of the VERY few that can pull it off,
don't grow facial hair

I understand that it's a manly thing
but all of it is gross

and unless I tell you otherwise
you probably shouldn't assume you are the exception

If you participate in no-shave november.... I will too
see how you like that.

much appreciated!

Love,
your future wife

no fighting

Dear future husband,

today, we had a church meeting that centered around the family.
well, dating essentially.

they pretty much told the guys to get off their butts and ask girls out.
I promise I'll say yes.

also, let's not fight
it's too hard
i've looked at other relationships,
and the best word I can use to describe how i want mine to be,
is natural.

I know that people aren't perfect
it's practically impossible to live with someone 24/7
and not get mad at them at some point.

but it's possible to argue very little
and love a lot

i remember once when my parents started to argue,
and when they realized there was an obvious miscommunication
they went into the other room.
a few minutes later, they came out laughing.

i want that

so, let's just fall in love
and not worry about anything else

and laugh a lot.

love,
your future wife

Princess

Dear future husband,

I was talking about you again today.
I was talking about something that you might want to keep in mind when you're trying to win my heart over.

Have flaws. Be yourself.

Sometimes I get caught up in the movies, and I want the perfect man.
And then I come back to reality.

I saw a quote the other day, that said something along the lines of

If you want a perfect Disney Prince
and a perfect Disney romance
Then you need to be a perfect Disney Princess
I am not at all close to being a perfect Disney Princess, nor do I ever want to be.

I want someone goofy. crazy. individual.
Someone that can make me laugh.
Someone that brings out the best in me and I can totally be the best version of myself around.
I want someone that messes up.
Someone human.

So, be yourself.
It'll work out better that way.

Love,
Your future wife.

Thinking of You

Dear future husband,

Just thinking about you.
How, I don't know you yet. But you're out there somewhere.
You're living your life, and probably not thinking about me at all.
And that is more than perfectly okay.
For now.

But, I hope that you are safe.
I hope that you are making the right choices.
I hope that are where you are supposed to be, when you are supposed to be there.
I hope that you stay true to yourself.

Because of some wonderful wisdom from my father, I pray for you. I'll admit that I'm not very good at remembering it everyday. But I'm working on it.

Good luck out there.

~Trying to wait patiently and hoping you are well
